JOOLA, the world’s leading manufacturer of pickleball paddles, is set to open its first signature retail store at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda, Maryland. The grand opening will take place on Black Friday, November 28, marking a major moment for both the brand and the fast-growing sport of pickleball.
As part of the celebration, world No. 1 pickleball player Ben Johns will host an autograph signing and meet-and-greet on Saturday, November 29, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST. Shoppers visiting the store throughout the weekend will also receive complimentary gifts with eligible in-store purchases, available while supplies last.
“Montgomery County has always been part of the JOOLA story, and opening our signature store here is a reflection of our deep roots and our future ambitions,” said Richard Lee, CEO and owner of JOOLA. “This space is a celebration of how far pickleball has come, and a commitment to supporting the players and communities driving its growth worldwide.”
The flagship store opening comes after JOOLA relocated its U.S. headquarters from Gaithersburg to Pike & Rose in March 2025. With operations, innovation, design, and community engagement now based in one location, JOOLA aims to strengthen its role as a leader in the sport. The new retail space will give players of all skill levels the opportunity to test-drive paddles, apparel, and accessories while receiving guidance from JOOLA’s in-store experts.
Ben Johns, who grew up in Montgomery County, emphasized the importance of the new store for future athletes. “As a kid growing up here, I started with table tennis and eventually found my passion for pickleball,” he said. “Back then, having a JOOLA store locally would have made a huge difference. Now, the next generation will have that opportunity right here at home.”
JOOLA has long been a major contributor to the region’s pickleball community, including helping Montgomery County Public Schools become the first district in the nation to introduce pickleball as a varsity sport in fall 2024.
