Buying Coca-Cola next, says Elon Musk

New owner of the micro-blogging site Twitter, Elon Musk recently tweeted that he will buy Coca-Cola next “to put the cocaine back in”. Even though the maverick Tesla CEO seemed to be joking, the little tweet was enough to put both his critics and followers in a state of frenzy.

Musk’s Coca-Cola tweet has been liked over 3.8 million times while it has been retweeted over 740k times. It also has over 160k comments.

Following his Twitter takeover, Musk’s tweets have ranged from speaking about free speech to political neutrality to Signal-like end-to-end encryption.

Once upon a time, Coca leaves - laden with cocaine - used to be a primary ingredient of Coca-Cola. Of course, this was way back in the nineteenth century, when cocaine was understood to have many medicinal properties.

Following Prohibition in the US, Coca-Cola changed its “secret formula” to replace the cocaine-laden leaves with de-cocanised leaves.

Following Musk’s tweet, although made in jest, many financial handles tweeted how Musk was “too poor” to buy Coca-Cola, which has a market cap of over $240 billion. Mind you, Musk is the richest person in the world with an estimated wealth of roughly $289 billion.

Shortly after his Coca-Cola tweet, Musk also shared a screenshot of his own tweet which stated that he will buy McDonald’s and fix all the ice cream machines. To this screenshot he responded himself, saying “listen I can’t do miracles okay”.
