More Than 300.000 People Have Died From Coronavirus in Europe

 

More than 300,000 people have died from Covid-19 across Europe, and to date, as many as thirteen million cases of the infection have been reported amongst European countries.

The United Kingdom has the highest mortality rate in Europe. Hundreds of deaths a day are also confirmed by France, Spain, Italy, and Russia.

Faced with the pressure of overwhelming patient numbers, hospitals in Belgium and the Netherlands are sending their patients to Germany.

Today, Albania also joined the list of countries where curfews were introduced due to the rapid spread of the virus.

In Great Britain, the threshold of 50,000 deaths from coronavirus has been crossed, the authorities there announced. In that country, where quarantine was introduced for the second time since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, 595 people died just in the last 24 hours. A total of 50,365 people died of coronavirus in the UK since start of the outbreak.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on the citizens of Britain to respect the measures and introduced a quarantine that will last until December 2.

Yesterday, Spain crossed the threshold of 40,000 deaths from coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, the Spain Ministry of Health announced.

On October 25, Spain declared a state of emergency, which includes curfews in almost the entire country and allowed regional authorities to take action against the coronavirus epidemic. In that country, 311 people have died in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 40,105 cases, while 1.4 million people have been infected.

France also recently crossed the 40,000 death threshold, with several provinces introducing travel bans outside the region and have totally closed bars and restaurants.

France reported 35,879 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, for a total of 1.86 million. It thus overtook Russia and became the worst-hit country in the European region.

With a total of 1,865,538 confirmed cases, according to Reuters, France is the fourth-worst affected country in the world by the coronavirus pandemic.

Italy exceeded the limit of one million infections on Wednesday, skipping Mexico to become one of the ten most severely affected countries, while Great Britain crossed 50,000 deaths during the eight-month pandemic.
