Adult Swim, the network hosting the hit adult animated comedy, "Rick & Morty", announced it has cut ties with the show's co-creator Justin Roiland. Roiland is facing domestic violence charges stemming from a 2020 incident.
Rick & Morty is a sci-fi themed cartoon follows scientist Rick Sanchez, the smartest man in the universe and his grandson Morty as he accompanies his grandpa on wild interdimensional, adult-themed adventures. Roiland not only co-created the show but also voices the 2 main characters, Rick & Morty.
Hulu, which is the home to another Roiland creation "Solar Opposites" announced it has cut ties with him, too. He also resigned from his role at Squanch games.
Elon Musk, who appeared as a character named "Elon Tusk" in the 2019 episode "One Crew over the Crewcoo's Morty" said Roiland is the "heart of the show".

Roiland pleaded not guilty to the domestic violence charges in 2020. The charges now include "one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit" (Business Insider).
An attorney for Roiland told NBC News, "We look forward to clearing Justin's name and helping him move forward as swiftly as possible."
In 2018 Adult Swim had ordered 70 new episodes and nearly half of those have aired.
