The summer might be over and the temperature may have dropped a few degrees, but the independent Hip-hop scene is definitely heating up. And with a new forthcoming project fittingly titled “Miraculous”, Flames OhGod is carrying the torch for the Midwest as one of Ohio’s highest anticipated artists on the rise. Hailing from the west side of Akron- a section known as “The Hill” Flames has been holding it down for quite some time now with a work ethic like no other, starting in 2013 with “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” Akron Hip Hop Awards.
Cleaning house in 2016 with Ohio Hip Hop Awards- “Next Up”, 2x Winner -North Coast Competition. Right back in 2017 Winning z107.9’s Posted On the Corner Dope or Nope showcase, Ohio Entertainment Awards “Song of the Year”, Unite Cleveland Def Jam Showcase Winner, and Winner Of The Ohio Fest, in 2018 he was awarded(alongside his team- Strictly Street Music Group) the Ohio Entertainment Awards “Best Group”. 2019 brought him “Hardest Working Male Artist ” from Ear Kandy Radio, and most recently he has been crowned 2020’s “Rapper of the Year” by Akronhiphop.com.
He’s so serious about bringing the heat he’s even launched his own brand of organic hot sauce to put more fuel to his fire, and Akron landmark restaurant “The Flavor Grille” has added a spicy new selection to their menu in his honor “The ‘Flames OhGod’ Ghost Chicken Sandwich”.
Not straying too far away from the music, he’s slated to drop his latest single “Psychic” on October 9th, Flames comes with his trademark lyrical bounce flow and adds a new element experimenting with a new style called “switch music” on the catchy and melodic hook where he manipulates the tone and cadence of his voice creating a truly epic sound that's for sure will start a new trend. Psychic which is also the first single under his new label HURRY Productions.
Always one to push the creative limits he linked with another Ohio native out of Columbus Mack Lawrence for the video. Lawrence, the creative mind behind visuals from artists like Lil Baby, Lil Baby, Saint Jhn, J Balvin, Dixie D’Amelio, Lil Mosey, BlackBear, Rubi Rose, Omb Peezy, YelloPain, Young Joc, and most recently commissioned by L.A. Reid’s new label Hitco Music, sends OhGod on a crazy psychedelic journey with a video treatment originally conceptualized for Young Thug but perfectly matched with Flames and Psychic. This offering from Flames OhGod is proof that social distancing is never a problem when you’re used to setting yourself apart.
